The Alabama Information Technology Association (AITA) respects the privacy of visitors to its website. AITA strongly believes that the growth of electronic commerce and online activities requires that consumers be assured that information collected from them online is used responsibly and appropriately. To protect online privacy, AITA has implemented the following policy:
Most of the information that AITA collects is not personal but business data acquired to help AITA better serve its members.
AITA does not collect any personal information from users browsing its website. Users to the public areas of AITA's Web site browse anonymously. Only aggregate data -- such as the number of hits per page -- are collected. Aggregate data is only used for internal and marketing purposes and does not include any personally identifying information.
In the course of conducting its business, AITA collects some limited information from AITA members, persons or companies registering for AITA conferences, persons and companies receiving AITA awards, and from other businesses providing or receiving products or services to or from AITA. These data are submitted voluntarily. AITA typically collects name, job title, company, business address, business phone, fax and e-mail, and users may choose to provide AITA with their credit card accounts to make payments. Such information may be submitted to AITA through membership applications, conference or seminar registrations, and award nominations.
AITA also makes member company products and contact information available through the AITA Membership Directory to visitors to its Internet site and to those who register for its conferences. AITA does not sell, lease, rent, or otherwise provide member data to third parties that offer products and services.
AITA does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers. When members and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, AITA submits the information needed to secure payment to the appropriate clearinghouse.
AITA is committed to making sure that its privacy policy is understood and respected by all of its members and board of directors and advisors. AITA has taken every measure to ensure compliance with CAN-SPAM Act 2003, Pub. L. No. 108-187, 117 Stat. 2699 (2003).
AITA believes that individuals should have the right to review their personal information to ensure its accuracy. If you wish to review your data, please contact AITA at info@alabama-infotech.org or 256.417.4630.
Members that are concerned about the treatment of their personal data should contact AITA info@alabama-infotech.org or 256.417.4630.
