Mobile, Ala., January 15, 2008 - DocuSys, Inc., a leading anesthesia information management system (AIMS) and medication management system provider, has finalized a Letter of Intent to acquire Prompte, LLC, a Chicago-based software provider of solutions designed to standardize and streamline the earliest stages of surgical planning through the capture of a patient's health history. The transaction is expected to close within 30 days.

"We have had an exclusive marketing relationship with Prompte for the last two years," said DocuSys President and CEO Robert Watson. "During this time we have confirmed the marketplace requirements for solutions to address the medical history of patients prior to surgery; consequently, an acquisition of Prompte will fit well with our long-term objectives. We expect Prompte to be a key part of our product strategy as we continue to advance patient safety throughout the entire surgical process, including the preadmission stage."

During the preadmission stage of care, the collection and documentation of a patient's health history can reveal conditions such as allergies and medications that may lead to adverse results during surgery or post-surgical care. Developing a perioperative plan based on this data can help improve patient outcomes. Prompte's products, HealthQuestionnaire™ and PreOpPlanner™, facilitate the collection of a patient's health history, identify the patient's surgical risk and produce instructions and testing requirements for the patient prior to surgery.

Through its prior partnership with Prompte, DocuSys has taken advantage of the patient information collected by the Prompte solutions to pre-populate the DocuSys PreAnesthesia Evaluation module. "We've already seen how the combination of the Prompte technology and DocuSys solutions can help healthcare providers streamline workflow, save valuable time and allow the clinician to focus on the patient instead of collecting data," Watson added.

"Healthcare providers rely on up-to-date information to make informed decisions regarding  patient care," said Dr. David Young, Prompte's founder and an attending anesthesiologist at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in suburban Chicago. "Prompte's integration with the DocuSys solutions provides medical staff with comprehensive patient health information, his or her surgical risk and specific instructions which are seamlessly communicated throughout a surgical case. Patient safety is achieved as the patient data and care recommendations are channeled throughout the stages of surgery to the appropriate care team members."

HealthQuestionnaire enables patients to use touch-screen technology in a healthcare facility or at home via the Web. A risk score for both patient acuity and procedure complexity can then be generated for use by the surgical team to help determine the patient's anesthetic and surgical risks well in advance of surgery. PreOpPlanner uses the health history and risk score to develop and communicate patient-specific preoperative requirements, recommendations and instructions to both the patient and primary care providers.
