Dale W. Callahan, Ph.D., P.E.

Dale Callahan holds a faculty position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he directs the Information Engineering and Management masters degree program. Dale has over 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, where he was recently a national representative for national standards bodies involving SS7 and ATM billing. Previously he has worked with the BellSouth Technology Assessment Center (BTAC) where he was responsible for testing Advanced Intelligent Networking (AIN) software and hardware.
Dale attended University of Alabama and is currently involved with wireless communications and security, robotic communications, telecommunications, technical entrepreneurship, and biomedical testing.
Current Research:
- 802.11 Wireless Security in HIPAA with UAB Medical Center 1917 Clinic.
- Remote inspections and monitoring structures using wireless telecommunications with Dr. Shen-en Chen and Dr. Steven Jones of Civil Engineering Department. Funded by ALDOT.
- Development of robotic protocols for TCP/IP communication.
