Eric Salveggio BiographyDirector, CSO, Virginia College OnlineEric Salveggio is the Director of the online Masters in Homeland Security focusing on Information Technology, and the Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems for Virginia College at Birmingham. He holds a Bachelor's of Science in Management Information Systems, and a Master's of Science in Information Assurance from Norwich University. His career in technical education started while in the Navy, teaching electronics at Corry Station in Pensacola, Florida in 1992. He spent 2 years teaching for the military before retiring at 15 years.
Mr. Salveggio left the military to work in Industrial electronics, and performing air monitoring. After four years as a Senior Field Service Technician/Representative, he turned his attention from the inside of computers to the outside. Teaching himself Adobe Photoshop, Front Page and GoLive, he garnered several jobs performing web design, advertising, and technical assistance in the local area. Early in 1999, he answered an ad for Virginia College as an electronics instructor, and was immediately hired. By October of that same year, the CEO and COO of the school approached him to open a new campus in Jackson, MS., as the Network Engineering Director. After an extremely fruitful year, he was invited back to the main, Birmingham campus, to chair the network Engineering Department, where he remained until June 2003, when he moved to the Online campus. Mr. Salveggio has developed a Bachelor's of Science in Network Security, and an online Master's of Science in Homeland Security, focusing on Information Technology. He was chosen to take over for Dr. David Vaillancourt as a Board member of the Alabama Information Technology Association, is on the reviewing board for Norwich University concerning technology and security papers for publication, is an executive Board member of Birmingham's InfraGard chapter, and acts as Senior VP for Black Isle Security, a consulting company out of Tampa, Florida.. He holds several industry standard certifications, including the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute prestigious Homeland Security CHS-III. For more information: |
