Air Force CIO, ESC Vice Commander to Headline MITS ConferenceContacts:
United States Air Force Headquarters 754th Electronic Systems Group Public Affairs Office 490 East Moore Drive Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex, Alabama 36114 MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE-GUNTER ANNEX, Ala. (May 14, 2007) The Montgomery Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and the Headquarters 754th Electronic Systems Group will be hosting the annual Montgomery Information Technology Summit May 21-23 in Montgomery, Ala. This year's conference is themed "Shaping Information Technology for Today's Challenges." The information technology portion of the conference will take place at the Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Montgomery on May 22. The one-and-a-half day IT summit will provide an opportunity for attendees to engage speakers, panel members and other summit participants in understanding the challenges facing the Air Force and Department of Defense. Keynote speakers headlining the conference include Maj. Gen. William T. Lord, director of Information Services and Integration, Secretary of the Air Force Office of Warfighting Integration and Chief Information Officer; Maj. Gen. Arthur J. Rooney, Electronic Systems Center vice commander; and, John Garing of DISA. A luncheon will be held on May 22 from 11:15 to 12:30 with featured guest speaker Lt. Gen. Stephen R. Lorenz, Air University commander. Additionally, attendees will refine their personal knowledge and skills in managing the environment and delivering and sustaining combat and mission support systems capabilities, conference organizers said, leaving the summit with a better appreciation of the challenges associated with acquiring, developing, testing, fielding and sustaining enterprise applications and COTS solutions. This year's summit will kick off with the annual partnership golf tournament at the Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery. The May 21 golf tournament will benefit the AFCEA Educational Foundation. The annual Montgomery IT Summit has provided sponsor support enabling the AFCEA Educational Foundation to more than $200,000 to aid the educational community in Montgomery. According to conference coordinators, participants should register soon as slots are running out. Registration prices vary for government and private sector participants.
