Tim TaylorMr. Taylor is the co-founder of Endius, Inc. a Boston based surgical device company. The world's largest orthopedic company Zimmer acquired Endius in March, 2007. Endius is one of the fastest growing spinal device and implant companies in the U.S. and has raised more venture capital money in 2003 than any other medical device company. Investors include Morgan Stanley Ventures, The Carlyle Group, Polaris Ventures, New England Venture Capital, Hickory Venture Capital and Hillman Medical. After hiring a seasoned CEO, Tim resigned from Endius in 2000 to move back south and become a venture capitalist with a $4B merchant bank, HMC Corp.

Tim published an entrepreneur - non-fiction book Launch Fever in 2003 that reached the Top 200 Online listing at Barnes and Noble.

Experience
Mr. Taylor is the manager of Business Development at Southern Research Institute in Birmingham, AL. As part of the SRI contract with NASA he also supports Space Shuttle and DoD launches in Mission Control.

He formerly provided consulting services for NASA, British Aerospace (BAE), Department of Defense, UAB-Department of Electrical Engineering, Vanderbilt School of Biomedical Engineering and FHL Capital. His consulting expertise ranges from business development, recapitalizations, venture funding support, healthcare sales and marketing and strategic organizational management work.

Background
After graduating with an engineering degree from Mississippi State, Mr. Taylor worked with the space program at Cape Canaveral-Kennedy Space Center and The Marshall Space Flight Center. His primary functions were to help with the transition from the Apollo program to the Space Shuttle program and provide pre-flight and in-flight engineering and technical support for several space shuttle missions/payloads. He later developed a medical orthopedic space shuttle experiment, which flew on the orbiter Columbia in 1990. This research led him to start a surgical device company (Endius, Inc.) with Dr. Gilbert Aust-Orthopedic Surgeon in Huntsville, AL. In 1997 the company relocated to Boston, MA to be closer to vendors, financial markets and clinical institutions such as Harvard and Brown University.

Besides being the co-founder of Endius, Inc., Mr. Taylor has been involved in the development of many patented products and processes. The patents range from material science, coatings and surgical devices. Mr. Taylor holds 21 patents.

He is Chairman and co-founder of the Alabama Information Technology Association (AITA) and is also the President of the Birmingham Venture Club-2003. He is a former board member for Awarix Corporation, a healthcare RFID technology company and currently serves on Savela Solutions board. He also served on the Biotech Association of Alabama and is currently a board member with TechBirmingham and The Entrepreneurial Center in Birmingham. He has appeared on National Public TV with NASA as well as on Alabama Public TV, local radio station 101.1 The Source and Fox News.
